The Norquay/Sturgis School Senior Girls Basketball Team has been acknowledged for their outstanding leadership and generosity both locally and provincially.

On Thursday, November 13, during National Philanthropy Day, the team was nominated by the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation and recognized as one of the 2025 Outstanding Youth Philanthropists.

Their journey began when their teammate and friend, Cheyenne, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Motivated by her strength, the team launched the “Buckets for Brain Cancer” initiative to raise awareness and support families facing similar challenges. Through this effort, they contributed $3,000 to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation, helping children receiving care in Pediatric Oncology. Their compassion, teamwork, and dedication highlight what it means to be a Norquay Knight.

We are proud to recognize these students for honouring Cheyenne’s memory in such a meaningful way and for inspiring their school and community through their actions.
