Everyone is welcome to attend the Humboldt Partnership Powwow—a vibrant competition powwow that brings together culture, community, and tradition in a powerful way. Humboldt's first ever powwow will be held at the Elgar Petersen Arena on June 18, from 12 - 8 p.m.

Taking place in celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day, this special event offers an opportunity for people of all backgrounds to come together, learn, and celebrate Indigenous culture in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

The day begins with the Grand Entry at 12 p.m., one of the most meaningful moments of any powwow. During this opening, drum groups, singers, and dancers enter the arena together, setting the tone for a day rooted in respect, connection, and tradition. Throughout the event, guests can experience a wide range of traditional powwow dances and competitions across multiple categories. Each dance tells a story, reflecting generations of cultural knowledge, artistry, and identity.

This year’s theme, “Honouring the Land & Our Relations,” highlights the importance of connection—to the land, to community, and to one another. Beyond the dancing and competitions, visitors can explore a variety of food and craft vendors. From delicious eats to unique handmade goods, there’s something for everyone to enjoy while supporting artisans and businesses.

Best of all, admission is free, making this an accessible and family-friendly event for the entire community.

The Humboldt Partnership Powwow is proudly presented in partnership with George Gordon First Nation, George Gordon Developments Ltd., the City of Humboldt, Carlton Trail College, and Horizon School Division.
